Surrogate's comments/Birth Story:
Friday started off as just any other day. I woke up miserable and waddled through the day miserable. By about 3pm I was having some decent contractions. Nothing strong, but fairly regular. By 6pm they were not painful, but strong enough that I decided to time them. Ay about 9pm they had been coming every 4-6 minutes and were lasting close to a minute. It was then I decided to call my IP's and give them the heads up. They went nuts and headed my way!!! I decided I would eat something before I left because I knew if I was in labor, I wouldn't get anything for awhile.
After getting the kids around and DH ready to go, we ended up getting to the ER at around 11:30pm. I was all hooked up and the monitoring started!!! When I arrived there I was checked and dilated to 3, 80% and -2 station. At my next check 2 hours later I was at a 4, still 80% and -2. And after another 2 hours I was at a 5, 100% and still -2. That is when the doc decided to keep me and let me do things at my own pace.

My IP's finally arrived at about 1:30 and the waiting began. I sent DH home with the kids and IM and IF stayed right by my side faithfully. The whole time IM was afraid she was making me feel like a watched pot!! LOL

I was checked a couple more times in the next few hours and I really didn't change much. That was until the ob got there and checked me. I guess he is known for his ever so pleasant exams!!! Let me just say, OUCH!!!!! But there is a method to his madness. He actually stretches the cervix himself. But only if it feels stretchy and pliable. He was able to take me from a 5 to a 6 with one exam. he also said he could feel my bag and the babies head. And at a later exam he actually felt little Landon's ear!!!

At around 4pm on saturday he checked me and decide he wanted to go ahead and break my water. It took him several minutes and several tries to actually break it and then it was only a trickle.

I am a bit lost on actual times, so everything is pretty much an estimate.

Ok, it was around this time that I received my epidural. And after that I was in labor heaven!!! I think about 6pm the doc checked me again and this time he was able to get my water to fully break and that set everything into motion. DH donned his scrubs, I gave loves to my IP's and I was whisked off to the surgical room.

By this time it seemed my epi had worn off a bit, so the nurse called and the epi lady was on her way. But not quick enough for me!!! That was the longest 10 minutes of my life!! I was laid out on that tiny little surgical table, everything bared for all to see, contractions coming on strong with no break and no epi lady to be found!!! They had to hold my knees together so little Landon didn't just pop out. But when they said to go ahead and push, it was the greatest feeling ever!! One push and I could hear his screams!! They let me see him and then whisked him away.

At this time the OB got started trying to turn miss Lynndsey externally. He worked his booty off and she was not about to budge!! DH said at one point the doc was in there up to his elbow and she was still having no part of it!!

That was when I heard him say c-section. My heart just broke and I started to cry. I didn't know if I was upset that she didn't turn, or I was scared to death, or what, but I was devastated!!!

It was then that everything went blurry. I remember DH telling me how much he loved me and I remember feeling like I was going to be sick. Then they showed me the tiniest, most blue little angel I had ever seen!!!

According to DH, Lynndsey was having trouble breathing on her own so they sent her to the NICU. I was all stitched up and sent to recovery. It seemed like it took forever for me to finally start waking up enough to comprehend what was happening. DH said Landon was born at 6:13pm, 6lbs14oz,181/2 inches long. And Lynndsey was born at 6:36pm, 5lbs 1.5oz, 18 inches long.

After they got me all cleaned up, I was given Landon. And he was perfect!!!! All I could do was marvel at him!! And then we got the wonderful news that Lynndsey had already been cleared and was having her bath and on her way to the recovery room. That was the best news I had ever heard!!

I knew that I had a certain way I wanted things to go. I wanted my DH to hand the babies to their mommy and daddy and i was determined it was going to happen that way. Nothing had went according to plan, so I could at least have this moment!! I was able to hold both babies while they wheeled me into my room and then mom and dad were escorted in. The moment they were introduced to there babies was one I will never forget!!
