Pregnancy/Birth Story:
It was my first time being a GS. I was excited and scared
a little. I met my IP's and I can honestly say we were the perfect match.
We hit it off and we started the journey right away. Our first attempt
resulted in a pregnancy. We thought it was twins because my numbers were
so high, but the second one only stuck and didn't develop, still we were
happy to have one. The pregnancy went perfectly, no complications and no
illnesses. It was hard for them to except it all going so well, since for
so many years they had struggled and suffered through many disappointments.
They wanted to be surprised as to the sex of the baby, so we never knew
the sex, and that was hard for me. I wanted to know so badly, but I knew
I couldn't have kept the secret so it was good I never knew. It was my 37
th week and I went to the doctor, they had come into town for most of all
the appointments and they were there with me that day. The doctor checked
my dialation and I was 4-5 cm and 75% thinned out. So, he asked if I wanted
to be helped along, I agreed to the stripping of the membranes since they
were here in town and I didn't want them to miss it. It hurt a little, but
it was over very quickly. We came back to my house for a few hours and I
felt like we should go back to the hospital, so we did, they admitted me
around 4:30 pm. I was dialating steadly, but slower than my previous births.
I knew once I hit 7 cm it would go fast, but they didn't think it would
be so fast. I hit 7 cm and twenty minutes later I screamed "It's crowning"
and the crew came running just in time, the baby was coming out - one good
push and It's a girl! The parents were so happy and so full of emotion.
It was amazing, to know that I caused such joy and happiness in other people's
lives. I felt so warm inside, and I still do everytime I see them, or get
a picture of Lily with them. It is amazing that people can come together
under these types of circumstances and become so close. I am proud to have
given such a wonderful family their dream and I wish the best for them all.
We are already talking about possibly doing it again in a year or so. They
won't do it without me, and I would be thrilled to be a part of it all again
with people I love.
